Welcome to a New Year of Tennis at your Club!
Your new Club Committee: Susie Ramsay - Chairperson, Margaret
Leask - Secretary, Mike Young - Treasurer, Andy Dalby - Club Captain,
Ruth Palmer - Match Secretary, Craig McEwan - Junior Section Organiser,
Pam Heaven - Bar Secretary.
Facilities: As we had no volunteer come forward at the December
AGM to act as Facilities Secretary, this will have to be done on a
sub-committee / working party basis by the members. So please step
forward if there is a little job to be done e.g. change a bolt, paint
a bench or whatever might crop up - thank you.
Social activities: as with facilities, this will have to be
done on a sub-committee basis by the members, which should work alright
when needed e.g. making cakes, distributing tickets for events, or
even putting up Christmas decorations, perhaps preparing the odd event
poster. At the AGM members suggested more play and feed events e.g.
pizza or fish & chip meals following a tennis session, and quiz
evening(s), so these we will try and do, so please attend and enjoy!
A music event is also being progressed, as we have some very talented
members amongst us.
Easter Junior "Open" Tournament: The 27th Hale Gardens
Junior Tournament takes place from Monday 2nd April to Saturday, 7th
April. In order to make this a financial as well as a playing success,
members are urged to lend their support. This can be in the form of
sponsoring one of the dozen or so events, manning the tea counter
or Bar, or
providing home made refreshment items for sale. Donations for a Tombola
should be placed in the box by the Office door.
This Tournament provides the single largest contribution to Club Funds,
other than the annual subscriptions. Please be generous with your
time and / or sponsorship.
Many thanks from the Tournament Committee.

Coaching: More fun coaching events were requested at the AGM,
so watch the notice boards for details from Daniel.
Star Club:A Club within a Club, offers children and adults
coaching to work towards full playing membership of Hale Gardens;
6 junior and 2 adult sessions each week with LTA coach/member Daniel
Hitchins. Ask Margaret Leask for more detail.
Courts: Work progresses to improve all courts, weather permitting
Ct.6 should have repainted lines by mid January, which should release
Ct.1 for more general use. Sand work on Cts 1 - 5 only waits on the
weather, but hopefully be done very soon.
Tennis & Match Play: Your club needs you, with more teams
than any other club in the area we need as many players as possible.
Make the volunteer captains life easier by saying yes to matches.
Match play can be fun at the various levels in the leagues.
Make it a great summer at Hale Gardens the best little club in the
world!
